This is definitely a piece he was having fun with. There is so much going on! The colors are a bit softer than typical with Jonas' work. The center burst of metallic pearl with a tooled design moving upward. To the right is a blast of pink surrounded by more sublime background colors. To the left are washes of teal, sea foam, yellow/gold all fading farther left to black and browns. This piece was produced on New Year's Day 2007 in Miami, so I can understand the Journey title, as he was considering the relocation to Asheville.

Look at the texture of this Jonas piece. There is such a mixture that reflects Jonas' talents: abstract, figurative, texture, flow, all in one. Because this was such a limited series of nudes, I believe he did about a dozen; this one is a truly unique piece. I think the title says it all!

Some have said this was a nod to Jonas' Jewish roots, as it resembles a Chai. I think it was Jonas' way of saying "a joyful hello". As with most of his pieces, we could speculate all day, it is a great consigned piece that can be hung several ways, and is filled with the colors and brush strokes that merge into a piece you can get lost in! Like so many of Jonas' pieces, the colors shift with the light. The photos don't do this marvelous piece justice.

Look at those brilliant colors and composition. The background of this piece is his interference silver/pearl paint. The two connected bursts of magenta, browns, Wedgewood blue, and purple, which are all blended and flowing together over the convex sides in only a way that Jonas could.

A marvelous example of Jonas' later work. The pastels and metalics jump from the black background! It has a floral feeling.

This is a happy painting! Filled with burgundy, plum, variations of blue, and capped with his interference pearl and a nice texture. Jonas was definitely in his element! Perfect installed horizontally or vertically.

Jonas did a very few of these in 2010. This is a truly unique piece!

About 2012, I worked with Jonas on an idea to get his art placed on commerical airplanes. This never came to fruitation, but it was fun trying. Jonas allowed me to take this one home. It is very fragile and I havent a place to display it.

My take on this piece is that it's a perfect blend of abstract and representational. The blues, browns, and black fade in and out for the perfect recipe. I am listing this for some Firends in Bradenton, FL who are downsizing.

In 2013, Jonas went through a creative phase and worked only in silks for almost a year. At the time Jonas said it helped reset his creative movements. He did very few landscapes in silk and thought this represented a major shift in his work!

In the mid-1990's Jonas created several large metal sculptures for parks and residential developments in South Florida. This was a proto-type for one. I like it for it's mid-century vibe.
